Contributed by: G3nu1n3, at 11/14/2004 02:22:00 PM.

Many people have asked me "how i modified my desktop?"; as shown in the November Desktop 2 (seen on the Right Pane).

November Desktop-2

So here is a small guide, with all the references.

The screenshot is a modified Windows XP SP2 Desktop.

Get The Tools First.

Some of the Apps / Icons used are distributed in compressed format. You will need Winrar (1.1 MB Shareware) to extract them

Here are the Application used: -

  • Avedesk 1.1 [Freeware]: Download (700 KB)
  • Konfabulator for Windows [Freeware]: Download (7.88MB)
  • WinAmp 5.05 [Freeware]: Download (4.35 MB)
  • Samurize 1.6 [Freeware]: Download (7 Mb)
  • StyleXp 2.16 [Free Trial]: Download (11 MB)
What Else Would You Need.

  • Samurize WinAmp CDCover Config: Download (400KB)
  • Glass HardDrive PNG : Download (95.4 KB 100x100)
  • Aerofolders Vertical PNG: Download (402KB 500x296)
Visual Style

The easiest way to explain what Visual Style is to think it as of the Skin of Windows Interface.

This is the tricky part. There are two ways you can go about changing it. One is to use a Shareware Application StyleXP (detail below) to let windows change its default style. If you dont want to spend money then you can patch your windows with modified uxTheme Dll patch. If this is new to you dont even think of doing it manually, stick to the shareware option.

First Download the StyleXP: -

  • StyleXp 2.16 [Free Trial]: Download (11 MB)
- or -

For Advanced users Only: -
Now you can change the Visual Style.

I have used :
  • PantherSnowFinal (Graphite) : Download (1.1 MB)
Thats it. Happy Desk Modding.
