Contributed by: G3nu1n3, at 11/24/2004 06:02:00 PM.

In response to the discovery of high quality counterfeit versions of Windows XP, Microsoft has launched its Windows XP Counterfeit Project.

Anyone who is unsure of the legitimacy of their Windows XP software may submit their product to Microsoft for analysis. Software that is found to be counterfeit will be replaced according to the terms and conditions of the offer.

The Windows XP Counterfeit Project is the latest initiative from Microsoft to target the illegal software market. The project will allow Microsoft to collate intelligence quickly and work with the authorities to act decisively against illegal traders.

What you have to do:

1) Visit the Product Identification Service page and follow the instructions for the submission of your product.

2) Send the product plus required information to PO Box 4925, Earley, RG6 1XG. Ensure that you write on the front cover of your package the words Microsoft Windows XP Counterfeit Project.
