Microsoft officially launches MSN Remote Record
Contributed by: SHA, at 2/27/2005 10:14:00 AM.

Microsoft has officially launched its MSN Remote Record feature, which lets users of Windows XP Media Center Edition control their PCs DVR features via the Web (the service had been in beta since last November). Of course, this wont seem like a big deal to subscribers of Tivo or ReplayTV, since theyve offered services like this for years, but there is one thing about this that MSN TV users can lord over their Tivo and Replay-using counterparts: the service is free. If youve got a Media Center PC running, the Remote Record service, like the electronic programming guide used at home, is free (it it any wonder Tivo is in trouble?).
