Microsoft Office 12 Preview
Contributed by: G3nu1n3, at 3/09/2005 08:32:00 PM.

Paul Thurrott has hosted a Preview of the yet to be released Microsoft Office 12 Beta Screenshots. The Final Version is expected in october 2006.

Microsoft has long planned to ship Office 12 simultaneously or "nearly simultaneously" with Longhorn, its next major Windows version.

However, Longhorn will RTM in May 2006, and Office won't be completed until late 2006, as shown below. Some of the internal documentation I've seen suggests that Microsoft will actually delay the public availability of Longhorn until Office 12 can ship, because Office 12 is such a major component of the Longhorn wave of products.

The Outlook 12 Calendar will be integrated more closely with Tasks and given a nice makeover.

Office 12 will support a variety of collaboration techniques, including IM, audio, and video.

FrontPage 12 will feature better integration with external data sources.
