Mabir.A is a new worm feasting on MMS
Contributed by: SHA, at 4/06/2005 08:12:00 AM.

A third mobile phone virus has just registered its presence. Called the Mabir.A worm, this virus is capable of replicating via MMS messages.
Essentially targeting those smartphones which have both Bluetooth and MMS capability, the worm is causing concern among security software makers because of its capability to spread through MMS.
A variant of an earlier Cabir worm, which also affected mobile phones, Mabir.A spreads only over Bluetooth, with added MMS functionality. Anti-virus maker F-secure, which identified the virus as a Cabir worm variant, feels that it is based on the same source code as Cabir and is likely to be the product of the same coder.
